Creating Discrete Laminates - Automatically

Discrete laminates can be created automatically by specifying target ply counts or percentages.

How to create a range of discrete laminates

  1. Open the Sizing form.
  2. Navigate to the desired assembly and variable (skin vs stiffener).
  3. Click Generate from the Laminate tab on the ribbon.

The discrete laminate generation form will appear.

  4. If necessary, modify the desired ply counts for tape and fabric.

If an effective laminate solution exists, then the ply counts are automatically populated from the sizing results. See Creating Effective Laminates.

If no effective laminate solution exists, the ply counts may be defined manually.

  5. (Optional) Click Review Ply Angle Rules or Review Layup Rules to review and modify the design criteria used when generating the laminates. See About Design Criteria.
  6. Click Generate.

Important: By generating discrete laminates this way, the laminates will be automatically applied to the selected variable (Top skin, web, bottom skin, etc.) for the active assembly.
